Forever The Worst President Ever

This notion that somehow history is going to vindicate the presidency of George Bush is ridiculous. Do these people really believe this crap? On 9/11 3000 Americans died as a direct result of the gross negligence of the Bush administration. You think history is going to take a kinder and gentler view of that? The exact opposite is going to happen — Bush got a free pass on being held accountable simply because the nation was in a state of shock, and we were engulfed by a “rally around the flag” mentality. The further we get away from 9/11, the more objective the analysis will become, and the more the incompetence will be exposed.

And then there’s Katrina and New Orleans. This was a case of gross incompetence, and there’s no way history will be able to frame this disaster in any other way. Bush inherited a FEMA that was the best emergency response organization the world had ever seen, and proceeded to turn it in to one big joke. The best and the brightest were let go and replaced by clowns like Michael Brown. And the worst man-made disaster in the history of the country was the result. Please tell me how history is going to make that in to a plus.

And the idea that somehow if democracy flourishes in the Middle East at some point in the distant future then George Bush will get credit is also a total crock. He preemptively invaded a foreign country using nothing but misinformation and lies to justify his actions. As a result 4000+ U.S. soldiers are dead, over 30,000 wounded. On the Iraqi side over 100,000 are dead and millions are refugees. Regardless of how it turns out years from now, you can’t change the facts that the entire operation was bungled from the start and could not have been handled worse.

And those are just the top three disasters of this administration. Add to that the financial meltdown, eight years lost in the fight against global warming, nothing done to cut our dependency on foreign oil, all the crimes and cover ups — the list goes on and on. This was the worst presidency in the history of the United States. If anything, history is going to make that even more clear than it is today.
