Let the world change you... and you can change the world

9/11 Anniversary

Kudos to Paul Krugman for saying what I suspect many people are thinking but too afraid to say out loud for fear of retribution from the right wing sociopaths who seem to rule our world these days.  Yes, 9/11 was a terrible, terrible tragedy and we should all reflect back on that day and honor not only those who lost their lives but those first-responders who also sacrificed so much.  But as Krugman notes, “the memory of 9/11 has been irrevocably poisoned” because of the following ten years of shameful acts by George Bush and the rest of the Republican Party, who used that tragedy to fulfill their political objectives, none of which had anything to do with that tragedy.  9/11 was used to justify everything from unilateral invasions of Mideastern countries which was really all about protecting the interests of American oil corporations, to massive tax cuts for the rich which were all about nothing other than stealing from the poor and middle class and giving to the undeserving rich.  After ten years, it’s clear we are never as a country going to hold these people accountable for what they did after 9/11.  And that’s a terrible shame we will always have to live with.
